SENATOR MAZIARZ REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO 62ND DISTRICT

Each and every day since I was first elected to the State Senate in March of 1995, I have considered it a great honor and privilege to serve the people of the 62nd District. To be a state senator was my dream as a young boy, and I can honestly say I go to work every day loving the job I was elected to do, working as hard as I can for the people I represent in Albany.
"Humbling" is the first word I think of when asked how I feel to be named the Republican front-runner to seek Tom Reynolds’ congressional seat. There has been such a groundswell of support for my candidacy from community leaders and friends, local and state party leaders, and colleagues in Washington.
I am sincerely thankful for the many, many calls of encouragement and advice I have received in the past few days. I am also extremely grateful for the love and support of my family--my wife, Beverly, and my girls, Kristina and Tricia, who have selflessly encouraged me.
It has been a difficult decision, one my family and I have not taken lightly. Today, I would like to announce that I will not be running for Congress.

This is truly a pivotal time in the State of New York as well as Western New York. We have a new Governor pledging $1 billion dollars to help the upstate economy. We have a new Erie County Executive who wants to work with the Western New York Delegation to make change. And personally, I have many projects throughout my district that I want to see through to completion. To name a few: the growth and development of Rochester Technology Park in Gates, the Calspan expansion, and the redevelopment of the Niagara Falls International Airport. Further, with my new role as Chairman of the Senate Energy Committee, I believe I can help shape better energy policy for the State of New York.
